Attending an ASCAP Workshop: Investing in My Future as a Songwriter

Recently, I had the opportunity to attend a songwriter workshop hosted by ASCAP, and it was an inspiring experience that reminded me why I continue to pursue music with passion and determination.

As an ASCAP member, I always look for opportunities to learn more about the music business, songwriting, publishing, and sync licensing. Workshops like these provide invaluable insights directly from industry professionals who have years of experience navigating the ever-changing landscape of music.

Throughout the event, I connected with fellow songwriters, composers, producers, and creatives who share the same goal: building meaningful careers through music. Hearing their stories, challenges, and successes reinforced the importance of community and collaboration in this industry.

One of the biggest takeaways from the workshop was the importance of understanding the business side of music. From publishing administration and performance royalties to metadata, registrations, and licensing opportunities, every detail matters when building a sustainable career as a songwriter. It was encouraging to learn that success is not only about writing great songs but also about being educated, persistent, and prepared.

The workshop also highlighted current opportunities in film, television, sports, and video game sync licensing—areas that continue to be a major focus of my career. As someone who enjoys writing across multiple genres, including Indie Pop, Rock, Christian music, and cinematic compositions, I left the event feeling motivated and excited about the possibilities ahead.

Beyond the educational sessions, the event served as a reminder that every successful musician starts somewhere. Growth happens one song, one connection, and one opportunity at a time. Attending events like this allows me to continue developing my craft while staying informed about trends and best practices within the music industry.

I would like to thank ASCAP for organizing these workshops and creating spaces where songwriters can learn, connect, and grow. Experiences like this reaffirm my commitment to pursuing excellence in music and continuing to expand my knowledge as both a songwriter and entrepreneur.

This workshop was more than just an event—it was another step forward in my journey.

I look forward to attending future ASCAP events and sharing more experiences along the way. Thank you to everyone who continues to support my music and creative endeavors. The journey continues, and I am excited to see where it leads next.
